How to Enter God Mode on Twitter

Michael Bloomberg is worth $76 billion.

He built his fortune on the foundation of one thing: information.

Information, or data, is the new oil.

If you are not familiar, Bloomberg provides information services to Wall Street banks and other financial institutions.

When I used to work in finance every floor of the office had at least one Bloomberg “terminal.” (see below)

The terminal contains an almost infinite amount of financial data. This isn't info you can get from a Google search. This is proprietary data - meaning it costs money to access.

When it comes to financial data, using a Bloomberg terminal is like having access to "God Mode."

As such, every hedge fund billionaire uses a Bloomberg terminal daily.

The monthly cost of a license for a Bloomberg terminal is around $2,000 and the company has an estimated $10 BILLION in revenue.

Twitter = Data

Twitter is one of the most dynamic and free sources of information in the world. The volume of user generated content produced each day is astounding

Every second, on average, around 6,000 tweets are tweeted on Twitter, corresponding to over 350,000 tweets sent per minute, 500 million tweets per day and around 200 billion tweets per year.

Many in the press think that Elon’s purchase of Twitter was a waste of money. But if you understand how valuable data is, it's easy to understand why he bought Twitter.

However, the downside to this enormous flow of data: it’s like drinking from a fire hydrant.

It’s difficult to separate the signal from the noise. This takes time, effort and trial and error.

What that means is: curation becomes more important than ever.

However, if you follow the right accounts and optimize your feed, Twitter is like a Bloomberg terminal and you can enter Web3 God Mode.

The benefits of this include:

  • Speed up learning by at least 5-10x by having the right sources, rather than constantly searching for info

  • Knowing the right accounts to comment on will help build your following

  • Understand trends that are happening before they make it to the mainstream media

  • Access to job and networking opportunities before other people

  • Early access to new projects and communities

  • Better inputs = better outputs

Having access to better information means you can make better decisions, create better content and improve your life.

Web3 Accounts to Follow

When I first joined Twitter three years ago, I was overwhelmed by the amount of info and the lack of direction I had.

I wanted to follow the best crypto accounts but there was no single source that said “make sure you follow these accounts.”

Because of this, I spent countless hours searching for good accounts. When I found a good one I would look at who that account followed and then who that account followed.

As you can imagine, this created a never ending rabbit hole.

The good news?

I have curated a list of the 100 best accounts that focus on Web3 that you can steal.

You can find a copy of this list at the link below:

Additionally, I have also created a Twitter List of all 100 accounts that you can follow here

This list is just a starting point for Web3. I have included accounts from different sectors of Web3:

  • Web3

  • Bitcoin

  • NFTs

  • DeFi

  • DAOs

  • Developer

This is how you can enter God Mode without the $2,000 per month price tag of a Bloomberg terminal.

Ok, God Mode Sounds Cool, But Now What?

So now that you have a good starting point on who to follow, you’ll need to optimize your timeline.

For starters, I would use Lists like the link I posted above. This helps you avoid the inevitable mindless scrolling.

If you want to truly shut out the noise and go full God Mode, check out this thread.

It breaks down:

  • How to make sure you are seeing tweets in real time

  • How to mute pointless engagement farming tweets

  • How to remove other accounts replies and ads

  • How to block promoted tweets

(Side note: If you use TweetHunter, which costs $50 per month, this functionality is already built in.)

Finally, it’s important to constantly update who you follow.

Web3 moves fast and there are great new accounts coming up everyday. I set a reminder each month to add new accounts and remove accounts that have not been helpful.

Don't be afraid to unfollow accounts that are not helping you.

A well curated follow list on Twitter is a huge competitive advantage.

Closing Thoughts

I hope this was a helpful starting point on your journey into Web3.

Twitter is the gateway to Web3 and following the right accounts can have a huge impact on your life.

I know this because it changed my life.

A few years ago I was stuck in finance and didn’t really have much direction.

Then I fell down the crypto rabbit hole and found crypto Twitter.

The more accounts I followed the deeper I got into Web3 and the more I realized how much opportunity there was on Twitter.

Twitter helped me:

  • Find my current job at a Web3 startup

  • Expand my Web3 network 100x

  • Understand the bull/bear market cycle

  • Open my eyes to what’s possible in Web3 and as a digital creator

If you transported back in time two years ago and told me I would be doing something I love (writing) and helping build the next phase of the internet I wouldn’t have believed you.

Follow the right accounts, engage and DM, and it can open up opportunities you never considered before.
