EASY tactic to get Web3 founders to notice you...

Hello again my fellow legends!

This week has been a bruiser.

Our nanny quit on us (with no notice). So Mrs. Savant and I have been juggling an opinionated 3 year old and a rambunctious 1 year old, while trying to also be professionals.

Let me tell you, Twitter posts are 10x harder when a small human is screaming raw emotion in your skull.

But I’m not here to complain to you.

I’m here to help you crush it in Web3, write better content and hopefully entertain you in the process.

This week we have:

  • 1 Web3 topic: An EASY but underused tactic to get Web3 founders to notice you

  • 1 Writing tip: Copy that?

  • 1 Story: Psychedelics are no match for AI

How to get Web3 founders to notice you

Lately, I’ve been writing more about how to find full time work in Web3.

I’ve received over 100 DMs wanting to know how to find work.

Honestly, I’m not surprised.

It isn’t obvious where to look and how to go about it.

So here’s the most simple yet effective tactic to get noticed by founders which can lead to getting paid.

Summarize

First, I’m assuming you have found a project you are interested in working for.

If you need help with that, check out my last newsletter that has a list of projects with funding. You can find it here.

The easiest way to get noticed by a project is to attend all their Twitter spaces and AMA events in Discord.

If you don’t like public speaking don’t worry.

Summarize all of their spaces and AMAs (most are recorded so you don’t even have to attend but it’s good to show up for these things).

Create a killer summary of the 8-10 most important points and put it into a thread and post it on your Twitter.

Formatting matters! Don’t dump big blocks of text in a thread. Use concise bullet points.

After you post it on Twitter and tag the project, make sure to post it in the Discord channel (& Telegram if they have one).

Don’t ask the Discord mods if you can post it beforehand. Just post it in the channel that has the MOST activity and where the most people will see it.

This will not only gain you followers but it will get the attention of the Devs.

You are filling a demand: people in the Discord want to know about the project but they didn’t have time to listen to the Twitter space. You are saving them time and educating them.

You are filling a gap in the market.

It may not happen after one Twitter space but keep doing it until it makes an impact.

This opens a dialogue. From there you can tell them you are a content writer. Offer to write medium posts. Offer to write more threads. Offer, offer, offer.

Think this won’t work?

It’s how I started and it’s how I eventually ended up getting my job.

Note: I’m working on putting together a step-by-step guide on how to find projects, how to get founders attention and ultimately how to get paid to work in Web3. If you are interested, I would love it if you could fill out this survey to help me make it the best guide possible: click here

Copy that?

I’m currently on a 90 day sprint to learn everything I can about copywriting.

I realized that every tweet, every comment, every thing you write online is essentially a sales page.

You are fighting for attention. If you’re boring, then you’ll end up in the content graveyard like 98% of people.

So I studied what the greats have done and it’s copy work.

BY HAND.

Yep, you look at successful sales pages and you copy them with a pen and paper.

Each day I start with 15 - 20 minutes of copy work. This helps your brain think in similar patterns.

It’s why we learn to play Stairway to Heaven when learning the guitar or Mozart on the piano. The greatest minds leave breadcrumbs for us.

So if you’re interested in improving your content, here is a file with some of the best sales pages.

Try to do a small amount everyday. See what you think.

Psychedelics vs. AI

I run a Twitter spaces every Friday called Chain Reactions (double entendre in there for those who like word play) with a co-host.

We nerd out about Web3, crypto and tech in general.

Last week our guest was scheduled to speak about psychedelics, Web3 and AI.

We planned this wide ranging discussion about all of those topics.

In the end, we spoke about AI for 95% of the show.

It struck me that a very divisive and interesting topic like psychedelics was no match for AI.

AI is eating the world.

It also made me realize I have significant interest in learning more about it.

So I’m going to also include some AI content in this newsletter.

Nothing too crazy.

Selfishly, I’m mostly just interested in how it can make my life easier. And I’ll try to pass those strategies on to you.

If there’s ever been a good reason to build robots it’s to make our lives better.

Let’s figure that out.

Thanks for reading! I really appreciate your space in your inbox. Let me know if you have questions or want me to cover specific topics. I love getting responses from readers!
