If you want to work in Web3....
Hello again fellow legends!
It’s been a banger of a week here in Portugal. The sun has been shining brilliantly which makes me happy.
If you live in a cold climate, what the hell are you even doing with your life? Kidding. I’m sorry, that was mean.
I’m excited you’re here. This week’s newsletter has the following:
1 Web3 narrative: Why VC deals are you key to getting paid to work in Web3
1 Writing tip: AI vs humans
1 Story: Took an L this week
Why you should pay attention to VC deals
Job sites are a waste of time.
Sure there are plenty of listings but have you ever heard back from any of them?
Web3 is fueled by VC money.
Most projects don’t have any revenue so they depend on investment to get started.
That means if a company raises $2M to start a DeFi project, MOST of that money will go to paying people to build it.
This includes developers, content creators, social media managers etc.
If you’re looking for opportunities in Web3 you have to follow the money.

The trouble is most people don’t know where to look.
Below are two files that include funding deals for DeFi and Web3 gaming.
If I was looking for paid work in Web3 I would go straight to the source: the projects that have funding.
These files include a link to each project’s Twitter, Discord and Website.
Step 1: Go to the website to research what the project does.
Step2: Check out their Twitter account.
Step 3: Get in the Discord and start networking and offering your services.
I hope this is helpful!
Note: I’m working on putting together a step-by-step guide on how to find projects, how to get founders attention and ultimately how to get paid to work in Web3. If you are interested, I would love it if you could fill out this survey to help me make it the best guide possible: click here
AI vs. Humans
There’s been much speculation about artificial intelligence (AI) and how it will impact society.
If you’re a writer, the consensus is that you’re fucked.
If you’ve spent even 10 minutes on ChatGPT you can see why many writers are scared.
AI can write thousands of words in seconds. How can we compete with that?
Well, in a sea of robots it will pay to be more human.
Robots still don’t understand human emotion and that’s what sets you apart.
So if you are worried about AI, spend more time writing about being human and making people feel something.
That’s my strategy.
Until the robots learn emotions.
Then we are all fucked.
Took an L this Week
Some weeks you win. Some weeks you lose.
Last week, I committed to do a 90 day sprint.
What is a 90 day sprint, you ask?
I’m spending the next 90 days learning as much as I can about copywriting.
Why would I do that?
I used to think copywriting was boring sale-sy stuff. But in fact, every successful service, product or idea online has some element of copywriting in it.
@ItsKieranDrew 2/2
Copywriting is the key to unlocking everything online.
So for the next 90 days I'll be doing:
3-4 threads / wk
1 viral thread deconstruction / wk
3 Tweets / dayIf I don't do this, you can all shame me and cast me out as a social pariah.
DM me if you want to join!

So I committed on Twitter to write 3-4 threads per week, 3 tweets a day and 1 viral thread deconstruction.
In writing all of those, I’d be applying copywriting techniques I’m learning.
But damn, I couldn’t even finish the first week!
I didn’t have time to write the viral thread deconstruction.
So I took a Loss this week.
The old Savant would have stayed up till 1am writing, then woke up at 5am to edit just to get it done - because I said I would.
The 41 year old Savant with two kids realizes that life happens.
Plans break down.
You do the best you can, you learn and you adjust your strategy.
I realized I am also writing a newsletter each week and doing a Twitter space once a week - which takes up time.
So I’ll continue my 90 day sprint but with one less thread a week and I’ll do my best to include a viral thread breakdown.
If that doesn’t work we will adjust again.
Until it does work.
Thanks for reading. If there are topics you want me to cover related to Web3, crypto and writing online, reply and let me know! I love getting messages from readers. Have a great weekend!
